"Well then come here, Miss Belmont."
He just wanted to see if she would dislike being called that, or so it seemed. Awaiting her was a decent looking Burgandy leather coat, and a pair of red leather cowboy boots.
"In case these don't fit. Since I've never taken your measurements in your sleep before. Or anything like that, since I'm not a creep."

Katherine only cocked a brow slightly but said nothing else as she strode forward coming to stand beside him and peer at what it was he got her. Both brows raised up when she saw the two items and let out a low whistle. "Wow. ." she said quietly as she reached out. Her fingertips brushed over the embroidery-type decorations on the boots before she turned her attention to the folded up fabric which she discovered was a coat. A nice one. A real nice one.
She unfolded it, holding it up in front of her with a clearly happy look on her face, a smile taking it's place freely.
'Since I've never taken your measurements in your sleep before.'
"B-before!?" she stammered, reeling back to stare at him with wide eyes, looking for all the world shocked and appalled. But with the way the curves of her mouth were fighting to stay serious it was pretty clear she wasn't either of those. She clutched the jacket to her chest tightly like it might save her somehow.

Unfortunately he didn't catch onto her little ruse right away.
Saint quickly started to take one step toward her before deciding against it. Instead he took two steps back while some emotion managed to compile in his eyes. A look translating into a fustrated fluster at making a poor choice in his words. Was she trying to make him blush in embarassment? How torturous to treat someone afer they only used some sarcasm. Not even the high-falootin' kind either, the conveinence store brand that was on sale two for one. The Blonde almost appeared ready to actually walk off into the cold mists of the playground with the current way he stood.
". . .I. . ."
Leon didn't understand how giving gifts could turn out so wrong. That is, before he finally caught the tell-tale facial expressions which led to him to walk right back up to Katherine. After that he folded both arms across his chest before leaning toward her ever so slightly.
"You punk."

Katherine couldn't help it anymore and immediately broke into a full grin once he crossed his arms.
"That was too easy!" she laughed out, still clutching the jacket to her chest. The grin quickly died down into something more managable as she continued. "I'm sorry-" she said as she held the clothing out in front of her by the shoulders, giving it an appraising look. "But thank you. It's great!"

"You're welcome."
Saint replied while allowing a small smile to find its way back onto his lips, breaking the stern expression. Unfolding both arms, his upper torso turned away from her slightly in unison with his head. Leon acted somewhat strange for a few moments in a brooding way, considering a few unspoken options. More than likely he wondered not only how she had found him, but how she got from her home all the way to New York. There were several ways to travel, curiousity just tried begging him to know the trivial truth was all.
Did something worry him? For instance if those two strange people from the Broken Block were following him. A human's sixth sense of feeling watched only went so far, especially if effoert was put into stealth. Unanticipated danger might surface now merely through not considering his enemies before just now. Or hers.
Turning back to face Katherine before leaning onto the motorcycle, he spoke again. It felt sincere in a playful kind of sarcasm while his tone attempted to distract from his most recent action. Peculiarity did not need to ruin what felt to him like a nice moment between good friends. Ones who fought together. . .most of the time.
"It takes more faith than you'd think to buy clothes for a girl, just so you know."

There were several ways to travel. Exactly which way she had chosen probably wouldn't be divulged right away. Neither would how she had found him, if that was even done on purpose. It could have just been the usual blind luck that guided her. PROBABLY --
"Well it looks like you did just fine." Katherine said approvingly while wriggling one eyebrow. It was obvious she wanted to let a subtle insult fly but fought down the urge.
"At least it was just a coat and boots, imagine if you had to buy something else." she said casually, any alternate meaning behind her words not occuring to her.

Alternate meanings were troublesome, especially when it came to women. Often men had trouble deciphering exactly if every last sentence held a double-meaning that laid in wait like a tiger on the prowl. One wrong answer meant more than just a misunderstanding, it could turn into a mistake that felt inconsiderate.
". . . .Yeah, too dangerous for any normal man. After all you're a Belmont."
Was that supposed to mean something? Katherine doesn't seem the type though. Someone above. . .try not to let this get awkward.
Leon's words & thoughts almost went hand in sweaty hand. The tone he used showed the first outward signs he'd ever given in front of her about feeling a bit nervous about their topic of conversation. But how would she take his reply? Hopefully as an attempt at humor which ended successfully, no troublesome strings attached. Saint shifted his feet around somewhat so that the right leg slightly crossed over the left.

She seemed happy enough with his reply, or satisfied at least. For the first few moments. Then her smile faltered as she turned her chin to look into his face fully, her expression dead serious.
". . .What's that supposed to mean?"
The silence afterwards was a stoney one, a silence that Medusa herself might have been able to generate if the snakes on her head ever shut up.

". . ."
He found himself caught a bit off guard by her sudden change, even if part of him did half-expect such. What DID that mean, for her to be a Belmont? Even on the first day they met Leon felt she possessed something unique. Precesisely something which had moved him to choose her, choose her to try helping him with his own problems. Katherine's presence gave him a solidarity, a feeling he had found some type of right path to follow when he stood by her side. But then that contradicted the fact he dissapeared every once in a while, unless he feared turning into a burden of some sort.
"It's nothing bad. Besides you might think I'm stupid if I told you."
Did he really leave this time just for a mission? Saint never showed any signs of wanting to permanently part ways with the girl. Perhaps he left to see if she might come to find him, that she wanted him to stick around not just for having 'hired' her services as a Vampire Hunter.
To realize just exactly where she came from felt like a fairytale in a weird way. How much greater she was than him just by still being alive, that he possibly didn't deserve such a good friend. A feeling that haunted him underneath, in his heart, ever since those encounters with her now-missing foe, Olrox.
And that words hurt worse than sticks & stones somtimes, even from a fabulous Vampire.

If Katherine had known what kind of internal monologue Leon was going to launch into she would have not said anything. The corner of her mouth quirked up before she was smiling fully again. "'Nothing bad', he says. Suuuure. I'll believe you, this time."

"Good."
His restrained unease slid away at her reply, thankful even if he did not fully understand the way she felt toward him. At least now he knew for certain she wanted him around. Protecting her from getting involved in any Vatican incidents would get that much harder. Leon's leaving did not bother him much since how she looked at their relationship felt unclear. But with this better grasp on the situation came the obligation to no longer give her the impression he did not want to be around her.

"'Good,' he says..." she murmured suspiciously as she looked at him with narrowed eyes.
Katherine did have a certain perception about their relationship. She worked hard to keep it friendly but muddled. Anything further would probably only be a distraction and she had enough of those already.
It was a lot more fun to see him get flustered anyway. He was a handsome guy but those few moments he showed emotion were even better.
A few delayed moments later, Katherine realized what she had been thinking and suddenly became serious again. Semi-serious at least. She wasn't that uptight.
She turned her attention to the jacket then, quickly slipping off her old, thin one to put on the new one. Her hands tugged on the hem and sleeves, her elbows bending one after the other to get use to the feel of it. "How does it look?" Katherine asked, glancing over her shoulder to make sure there wasn't anything stuck to it. The last thing she'd want to do is walk around with a tag stuck to her back >_>

"'How does it look' she says . . ."
Leon replied with a fair amount of provoking undertones aimed at showing he had potential to tease back. Circling around her at a steady pace, the white figure finally came to a stop at the young lady's side. Inside his mind the thoughts were churning over this new coat that changed Katherine's look to one that felt more. . .cool? Egotism might have had a little bit to do with it too considering HE was the one who bought it for her. After all why wouldn't he buy it with her in mind if it was for her?
"It looks just fine."

Hearing Mr. Saint say 'It needs more cowbell' would have been the ultimate icing on the most epic of cakes but THERE WOULD BE OTHER TIMES--Other days of RECKONING.
Squinting one eye closed in a tight wink, Katherine jutted a thumbs up in the air on the side where Leon stood. "Great!" If Saint's eyes were quick enough, which they probably were, he might be able to catch a faint red swirly mark on the pad of her thumb which was likely the sign of some past period or boredom. But who went around drawing symbols on their fingers?
Probably the same type of person who draws happy faces on their knees.

Keen blue eyes did catch a glimpse of the strange body art.
He almost considered brushing it aside as one of her strange little mannerisms, since she had a few unique ones. The kind that alternated inbetween a normal girl & someone prepared to save the world. Sailor Moon without flashy transformations and talking cats. But on the other side came curiousity over even a trivial moment that passed since he last saw her.
Leon himself had a strange encounter on the way to New York, but felt it needed to stay on the back burner. A tale that might only thicken the air of mystery of who he really was underneath. One behind giving himself the moral authorization required to tell Katherine his wanderings were fnished. But he would not wait long enough for a transformation into a hideous secret.
"When did that happen?"
Gesturing with a sutble and polite hand movement, the words slipped past his lips casually. Intended to sound exactly that way to avoid sounding intrusive.
