If he were paying attention, the priest might notice that the dark-void creature was the first to respond. And by respond positively, meaning that no further mutation occured on the outer physical end. However the aura, which had been in a state of extreme flux, finalized into one that seemed to whisper about a greater potential power. One that had been lost long before this day. But other than that the 'Darkness' as one might call it stayed deathly still.
"Whatever you say, so long as this abombination is killed! Or exorcised. Whatever it is you specialize in priest, use it on him!"
He had a 'richteous' attitude about him as one overly-confident about being innocent. Remaining in basically the same spot, he had continued to move somewhat, just like a typical human. Or someone that felt unthreatened by Father Abel.

Although the priest was keeping a close mental watch on each 'power' in front of him, practically none of it showed on his face. Luel's brows furrowed as he listened to the words flying at him.
"Actually..." he began almost meekly, "I don't have any special...exorcising...powers."
"I'm only here to investigate the disappearances of the village citizens...the actual exorcising will be left to the Department of Inquisition." The right corner of his mouth pulled up in what looked like an almost apologetic smile. "As you can see...I'm only one single person..." A hand moved up to the back of his head again. "A rather useless person, I might add."

"You shouldn't have said that. You had him afraid with the bluff from earlier."
"How dissapointingly true."
This time the red head spoke in a different voice, no longer sounding concerned, or even like the Goblin King for that matter. Instead he sounded different, more exotic for a lack of a much better and precise word. With a wave of his hand a sword which had been sheathed at his side was now brandished. Not a Katana or Masamune. . . but most definately of Asian origins and design.
"But he could be bluffing right now."
"Silence!"
If anything this 'Darkness' seemed bent on taunting the more human-looking entity. But it remained to be seen which one had been the presence Luel had sensed first. Likely the shadowy figure had been last to 'exist' as he or it seemed capable of being birthed from the very shadows. Needless to say when the red-head shouted for the other to silence he struck out with his sword while out of striking distance. What followed was a yellow flash that travelled along the ground toward the black mass.
He didn't move & simply seemed to absorb the energy. Such an event was followed by the mysterious figure growing a bit more defined. If anything he now seemed like a slender yet musclar male wearing a black practically skin-tight outfit, an obscured face & long flowing black hair.

The priest frowned as he continued to observe, his revolver in one hand still trained in the middle of the two. He watched as the black mass grew more defined and as the attack was absorbed.
To be honest, none of this was making sense to him. Why had the mass been attached to the red-head in the first place? In some odd way they seemed to 'know' each other, but the mass didn't seem to be outwardly hostile...yet.
Not to say that even the red-head seemed completely innocent either. His suspcious levels were through the roof. The priest's shoulders slumped slightly as he prepared himself for the long haul he felt was about to begin.

It was then the red-head decided to play a little test after putting together facts he had heard muttered from the Priest. A test that if anything, would affirm him in being somewhere around a certain person. Someone 'important' to whatever plot had been going on lately. He spoke in the voice of someone else who was known to possess long, ebony hair that was kept in a much neater style than the wild mane sported by the 'Darkness'. A rather infamous man who could sometimes be called the Panzer Magier.
"Are you going to just stand there? Call your inquisition or something. I'm sure they can tell you exactly who I am."
Now it seemed it was the Red-head's turn to taunt someone into taking action. For the display of talented voice work did not end there at all. It took the likeness of a young woman that the Priest had undoubtedly met in an abandoned train tunnel. Someone would surely figure out that this man was not human, especially after gazing into those eyes that burned soo viciously in the style of a Serpent.
"I've helped you make a few friends along with some enemies. But do you think it's worth it right? Or maybe I'm lying to your face. How can ANYONE arrange fate? Or change destinies? Unless of course nothing is set in stone."
The eyes of the black mass narrowed slightly.

The priest’s eyes grew wide behind his glasses, his already pale complexion growing ashen. Unconsciously, a finger slipped against the trigger of his revolver. His lips parted, forming a silent half-question before closing again. He stared, his expression becoming deadly serious as he focused on the talkative one.
“Who are you?” he finally asked before adding quietly, “You don’t know what you’re talking about…”
An extreme sense of worry gathered in his chest as the familiar feminine tone reached him. Had she been harmed? Had he been so careless to endanger someone else? He had met her twice…once by pure accident, right? The second time, she had come to him on her own. He cursed under his breath, the material of his gloves creaking as his grip on his revolver tightened.

"I. . ."
He spoke, letting his voice turn back to the one a person might assume was his own. But in truth an intelligent person would conclude he chose voices at a whim based on theatrical intentions. After all certain voices with certain emotions achieved effects much more efficently than others. Perhaps the certainty that he had gained Luel's undivided attention allowed that sly smile to come upon his pale features. The stranger rose up the tip of his sword to point toward the Priest's gun now rather than toward the 'Darkness'.
". . .am a choreographer of the Macabre. So I know quite well what I'm talking about. Most of all when I say that none of the villagers will be found here. They seem to have just gone and bloody vanished. But that is all HIS fault, so if you're going to shoot someone. . . take out HIM."
The Red-head jerked his head toward the not-quite-ambiguous mass of black. Which actually reacted to those last words in a physical manner, by turning away. Almost in the fashion shared by the guilty serial killer in a lifetime original movie. Exact in that it made one feel that while those words were true, perhaps a valiant reason was behind them. Perhaps even a humane one. But then again just how valiant could any serial killer be outside of their own dillusional psychosis?
One might notice he still had not moved from the spot.

The priest drew in a low breath, swallowing visibly. Apparently gathering his thoughts before replying. His own arm did not falter as he continued to keep his revolver trained on the man.
"...if you truly are who you say you are...then you are just as guilty. The only thing that separates you from others...is that you don't want to get your own hands dirty. Although I'm sure you already have at some point."
The priest's pale eyes flicked to the figure of darkness.
All of the villagers...they were all dead. The things standing before him were abominations...things that shouldn't be allowed to exist. Just like him. But it was his job to protect the public...
And in order to do his job he had to remain calm. He had heard enough from the talkative red-head as he cared to. His next words were directed at the darkness.
"Tell me who you are...my superior gets angry whenever she sees the words 'Unknown Assailant'."

"Are you asking the Darkness? Or the Knight?"
Unfortunately for Luel, it would be unclear from just hearing the word whether this being had meant Knight or Night. As with each time before, the voice was flecked with dark intentions, unreached potential. But upon further scrutiny one might come to believe this presence was merely possessing. It can be inferred from that possible view point this was the reason the being had taken on a humanoid form. Something that could obviously take the appearance of anything including just hair must have some reason for the decision.

". . ." The priest did not answer immediately. His face remained the same serious mask but after his next reply it would become questionable whether or not he was actually serious about his job...or whether he was just plain dull.
"...To avoid confusion we'll just refer to you as Mr Dark Knight...Number 1 and 2." The pinky finger of his gun-hand pointed to each figure before him in turn. "You're lucky I'm so lax...if my partner were here this wouldn't be straightened out for at least a few more hours!"
Well at least the priest seemed happy with his wise decision.
"In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost you both are now under arrest by the Special Operations Department of the Division of State Ecclesiastical Affairs. Whether or not you come peacefully is up to you."

The Red-head laughed softly at the Priest's words, perhaps being reminded of someone else with how religion had been associated with justice. Something only found amusing by those who were madmen, with no faith at all to guide them. In utter defiance he turned simply to leave while sheathing his Nodachi sword. His choice had been to not come at all, shown in the way he acted opposite of the 'Darkness'. In addition the Scarecrow would find a black serpent had begun to come straight out of his right arm at an alarmingly fast pace.
Or to be precise, the CLOTH of his cassock on the right arm.
"For the sake of your report being precise, you can call me Makai. I'll want this added to that cozy little file your friends in the Inquistion have on me."
What was strange about the black void of a being was that while it seemed evil in nature, something forced it to obey whatever came out of Luel's mouth. Or at least it came off that way through th peaceful nature displayed. Nothing about him seemed to have an OPEN quarrell with the Priest.

Accordingly, Luel let out a sound of surprise when a snake slithered out of his cassock. It also wasn't his fault when his gun went off in the direction of Makai, either.
The priest slapped at his arm with his free hand, trying to knock the serpent free.

For a few seconds after the gunshot Makai staggered in his running pace before it picked back up again. In all likelyhood he had been shot, but unless the bullets had special properties it would not be enough to stop his escape. Soon enough he had gone out of sight, likely meaning that no one would find him within the village unless he wanted to be found. He was just that sort of slippery snake, to use an appropriate comparison.
On the otherhand, the Mr. Dark Knight number one or two, whicherever had been assigned to the 'Darkness'. . . had not moved a single inch. Might he be brave enough to face the type of punishment in store? It was not even clear if this being truly was even behind the dissapearance of the entire village. But if Luel asked hard enough, some answers might have the light of the law shed upon them.
Should he take a look at the being now, more concentration appeared to have been put into the physical appearance. Now a face and what resembled normal clothing actually existed. Or rather the closest thing to normal clothing for a strange man. Yes it was obviously a man now as his body became covered in most places in black armor, with a ace pale like parafin that had rather handsome features.

In something that could be called a high-pitched scream of frustration, the priest tore his cassock free and tossed it to the ground. It left him with his scrawny arms bare to the cold wind but it was far preferable to having his nose gnawed off by a snake. His silver hair was a mess and he stood there like a cowboy in a one-sided stand-off, huffing and puffing. The barrel of his revolver smoked slightly from the discharge. As for the bullet, it was only a silver bullet of no real other special property. It was a moment before his head whipped around to face the darkness with wide eyes and rasp out:
"COME WITH ME IF YOU WANT TO LIVE."
--before taking off in a dead run behind the red-head.
So far the figure in black had proven to be far less...'volatile' than the other one, so maybe in some off-handed way the priest had decided to place a certain amount of trust in him.

Without a word the figure in black moved like a blur of midnight reminiscent of another who wore dark clothing capable of such speeds. He did not mention the fact that it was likely a useless action to pursue Makai on foot without some assurance that the Snake Charmer could actually be captured. But regardless he followed the Priest in pursuit of what might be considered quite an evil player on the board. In fact he actually began to pass the AX Agent despite the other having a head start, using some unseen connection with the shadows to keep track of the assailant.
Unfrtunately this was taken as a cue by someone to have black snakes start coming out of each shadow as if they dwelt within them from their instantaneous birth. Each one could bit with a dose of intoxicating Absinthe venom. A kind which others on the side of good had alread encountered before. One such person being a Librarian of sorts in the city of Rome. But she had likely not told anyone of high standing in the church about those incidents with this Mutated Vampire.
Or had she?
